Cabinets

We're in to the cabinet stage. Cabinets were delivered on the 12th and installation began on the 13th. The installer needs Monday to complete the first stage. Apparently one of the cabinets was on backorder but it came in on Friday.

On Friday the counter top folks came in to measure up and create a template to cut our quartz counter tops.
The bathroom was tiled this week.

The eaves troughs were done on Monday

 Creating the eaves

We went with a nice clean mantel to match the shaker doors and other trim

Saturday Dec 8 Finishing Carpentry Begins

Dennis came in on Thursday to start the tile work in the bathroom. He's about half way through. Our finishing carpenter started on Saturday and all of the doors are hung. I guess he's coming in today to trim them up. The cabinets are being delivered on Wednesday with installation starting on Thursday so he needs to complete up the initial finish work before they arrive with all their tools.

Coat closet. We went with a 3 panel shaker style door. Love them.

Closet off the living room area for extra storage.

Nancy's office pocket doors with inset pin glass.

Pin glass pocket door on the walk-in closet in the bedroom.

Tile work is about half done in the bathroom.
Note Nancy's niche which will have a towel hook and a toilet paper roll dispenser.

We're Painting!

We're back on track. Coutney, the painter, came yesterday and started the painting process. He primed the ceilings and got one of the two final coats on most of the ceiling.

Today he finished the first final coat on the ceilings and primed all of the walls. Tomorrow he'll apply the first of two coats on the walls. He'll come back at the very end when everyone else is done to make any repairs and apply the final coat.

Our deck was completed yesterday. My framer did  my deck free of charge. That was a wonderful surprise that I didn't expect  He said it was a gift for being so good to them when they were framing the house. Nancy fed them on several occasions and I guess that was appreciated. Way to go Nancy.

Has it been that long?

Can't believe it's been 20 days since my last update. I wish I could say that a lot has happened in the interim but it hasn't. Drywall installation has had a few hiccups and it's still not done. The upstairs needs a few touchups and it needs to be sanded.
But on the plus side, the garage doors were installed on schedule and we have heat in the garage.

This coming week should be really busy if we resolve the drywall issue. Primer coat on Tuesday, my finishing carpenter will start doing trim on Thursday or Friday and I'm hoping to have the bathroom wall and floors tiled by next weekend.

Most of the taping has been done. Nice how much light the skylight lets in. We're actually quite pleased with how light the suite is.

Our completed garage doors. we put in really neat garage door openers, First, they're belt driven, so they're really quiet. Second, they come with an internet gateway device that we connect to the router in the house, that lets me open and close them from anywhere n the world. Yes, there's an app for that.
No more wondering if I forgot to close the doors when I left.
The exterior is done now except for eaves and gutters and a little bit of work on the deck.

Deck and Drywall (The D Words)

This past week was consumed with drywall. It will be finished in terms of boarding today and the taping is supposed to go on today. That will leave a few more days for mud and sanding.

My garage doors will be going in either Thursday or Friday so drywall has to be completed before that.

The painter is booked for a week Monday.

The deck went in Monday. They were fast and completed it in just a few hours. One of the framers is coming back to finish off some loose ends and then it should be complete.

They got a late start and had to bring in lights to work.

In the light of day. Still need to add a couple of boards to the end of the deck as well as the steps.

Drywall progress. Most of the upstairs is done as well as the garage.

Mckenna surveying the work. She was a good helper as we swept and cleaned up the garbage.

Catch up

I've been a little lax the past several days. Time to bring things up to date. In the interim, we've filled in the south side of the lot with backfill and the parking pad has been filled with shredded asphalt, tamped and ready for parking.

Asphalt was poured to bridge the divide between the garage apron and the alley.

Denver and I rented a two man auger and dug holes for sono tubes. now we can place the pillars that will support the roof over the entrance way as well as the deck. I filed the two sono tubes for the deck on the last semi-nice day before the snow fell and the really freezing temperatures arrived. Hallelujah.

And finally Matt started installing the dry wall. Hopefully that will finish up later this week snd then I can get the painters in.

I got word this week that the cabinets will be delivered on December 12th and installation will begin the following day. Hopefully that means flooring can begin on the 17th or so.

 Unloading fill

 More of the same

Filling in the gas line trenches

 Fill and parking pad completed.

Waiting for asphalt

Asphalt completed. As you can see, we still need garage doors. Those should arrive later this week

October 26 Siding and Insulation Completed

It's been a busy week for siding and insulation. We were hit with snow which caused us to lose a day but both were completed yesterday.

The furnace got fired up this week and we're now ready for dry wall to start on Monday

The Ener-Spray truck. This houses the spray material.

The ceiling in the suite. Not yet completed.

The purple is a two pound foam that was sprayed at the ceiling ends. The rest was filed with fibreglass. The cost of spraying everything was a lot more so we went with this hybrid solution.

Garage ceiling sprayed with 1/2 pound foam.

The completed garage. Foam spray in the ceiling and poly and batts on the wall.

 Almost completed in the suite.

Insulation completed. I spent a few hours in the suite adding backing plates to where we would hang towel bars, cabinets etc. All swept up and ready for the next stage,

Siding crew at work.

Siding completed on the house. Just need to install the rock veneer along the front. I expect the overhead doors to arrive within two weeks

Another view. There are still a few things to complete on the overhang over the main entrance.

October 19, Siding and Inspections

They started siding today. And to help things along, I spent a good half of the day applying two coats of paint to the smart trim boards that will go around all of the windows and doors.

And the framing  plumbing and electrical inspections all took place today and they all passed. No more inspections until the final inspection at the end.

My office today. On the left you can see some of the bards I already painted and the unpainted boards on the sawhorses.

This is light. Some days there were 4 or 5 trucks and trailers in the alley. It was a bit of a gauntlet for people trying to maneuver down the alley.

The siding guys move pretty quick. Here you can see the first wall they started on. They've wrapped it and are almost half way done the siding.

Preparing the back of the garage. They completed the north side of the garage and the east side. They'll be back tomorrow and should finish up on Monday.

October 18 Electric almost done

Roy is almost done. A little more work need to be done tomorrow morning because he called his ispection in for tomorrow.

I called my siding guy last night and he said he could start tomorrow. He dropped off his supplies today. need less to say i was a little in shock. Most trades need several days warning.

The siding laying in wait for tomorrow.

Lots of pot lights in the kitchen

And in the living room area.
